Checklist for your Bathroom Renovation

The bathroom may be the smallest space in a home but it tells so much about the person or family that lives in it.  And out of all the rooms in a home, it is the one that sticks and goes unchanged for a long period of time.  Well of course it’s because most of the elements of a bathroom stays fixed.
If you have just purchased a home, and you feel the need to overhaul one or all the bathroom, consider that you may have to tear down a wall or two.  You may need an expert plumber too if you want to rearrange a few things. And speaking of “things”, here is a checklist of items you may need for your very first bathroom renovation.
·         The Basin (or Sink) – This bathroom fixture is usually the first thing people see when they walk in a bathroom.  I usually come in coordinate design with the bath tub. The basin can either be simply spruced up by building a storage system around it or changing the pedestal design or by adding footings.  But if it’s a drastic bathroom renovation, the sink is definitely the first to go… especially if you have a different tapware in mind.
·         The Tub – Most houses have built in tubs so they don’t usually get replaced.  However, for people who really want a new look, a brand new tub will contribute much.
·         The Toilet Basin - bathroom renovations are sometimes driven by the owners need to be more environmentally conscious. Water consumption ratings for water taps and toilets so that a household can significantly decrease over all water usage to as much as 70%.  There are also different types of toilets to choose based on its flushing system so it’s a good idea to take the time and consider all the available choices you have.
·         Tap ware – just like the toilet, taps have water consumption ratings. There are different designs that focus on ease of use (water flow control to temperature control).   When buying new tapware you should also consider the water pressure level in your area because there are sophisticated taps that do now work well if the water pressure is low.
·         The Shower Head  and Shower Tap– is considered a tap ware but because there are hundreds of shower head and shower tap designs available it seems fitting that it has its own spot on the list.  Aside from lazing around in the tub, showering at the right temperature and coverage is the next best thing.
·         The Lighting – Bathroom renovations can sometimes be just about the lighting, especially if you are renovating an old home.   It’s not such a far-fetched idea to install a mini chandelier in the bathroom.  To make a bathroom a bit more versatile when it comes to lighting you can install wall lamps with built in dimmer switches.

·         Mirrors – are functional and decorative.  Larger mirrors can make the bathroom look spacious.  Mirror frames also complete a look and the good news is that it is not that difficult to find the right one.
